अति उथळ व मुरमाड जमिनीमध्ये चिकन मातीच प्रमाण आणि पाणी धरुन ठेवण्याची क्षमता कमी असते. अशा जमिनीतून मिळणारं उत्पादनही कमी असतं. त्यामुळे अनेक शेतकरी उन्हाळ्यात हलक्या रानात गाळमाती मिसळतात. पण गाळ मिसळताना त्या गाळाची गुणवत्ता किंवा प्रत लक्षात घेतली जात नाही. किंवा मिळेल त्या ठिकाणचा गाळ मिसळला जातो. त्यामुळे जमिनीत जास्त किंवा कमी प्रमाणात गाळ मिसळला जातो. त्यामुळे जमिनी चीबड किंवा पानथळ होण्याचा धोका असतो.
