सोयाबीन पिकात नवीन विविध वाणांची उपलब्धता होत आहे. मात्र वाणाची निवड करताना शेतकऱ्यांना अडचणी येतात. महाराष्ट्रामध्ये वेगवेगळ्या प्रकारची जमीन आढळते. जमिनीचा प्रकार व वाण यांचा महत्त्वाचा संबंध आहे. त्यामुळे हलकी, मध्यम आणि भारी अशा जमिनीच्या प्रकारानुसार वाणाची निवड करावी. अत्यंत हलक्या, उथळ किंवा मुरमाड जमिनीमध्ये सोयाबीन पीक घेणे टाळावे.
