महाराष्ट्रात तीनही हंगामात टोमॅटोची लागवड करता येत असल्यामुळे टोमॅटो हे महाराष्ट्राचे प्रमुख भाजीपाला पीक आहे. राज्यात गेल्या काही दिवसांपासून पडणाऱ्या अवकाळी पावसाचा टोमॅटो हंगामावर परिणाम झाला आहे. शेतात पाणी साचून राहिल्याने अनेक ठिकाणी रोपांची मर झाली आहे. काही ठिकाणी फुलगळीसोबतच करपा, भूरी रोगाचा प्रादुर्भाव दिसून येत आहे. पिकात पाणी साचून राहिल्याने झाडांच्या मुळ्यांची कार्यक्षमता कमी होऊन कीड, रोगांच्या प्रादुर्भाव वाढला आहे. त्यामुळे पीक संरक्षण खर्च वाढून उत्पादन खर्चातही वाढ होऊ शकते.
